Glossary

This glossary explains terminology used throughout LOBSTA and its services. If you can't find what you are looking for, send us an email to [email protected].

Account

The identity of a user, authenticated by being registered and succesfuly logging in to LOBSTA. Required to access LOBSTA functionalities.

Activity

Log of any task done on projects by users.

Administrator (Admin)

A user account with the highest authority in LOBSTA. Has unrestricted access to LOBSTA, including the admin-only Administration properties.

Anonymous

A type of user who is unidentified or unknown to LOBSTA environment.

Application Programming Interface (API)

Protocol to access data and information from/to other applications

Archive

Action which limits visibility and editability to users of an item.

Assignee

A user responsible for completition of the issue.

Author

The user who created the task, issue, entry etc.

Bookmark

Action which enables quick access to the page via the project jump functionality.

Calendar

A time display based on creation and due dates for tasks and versions.

Category

Classification of an item for organizing and filtering purposes.

Comment

A user reply, expressing an opinion, on an item. Available on issues, forums, activity.

Custom Fields

Admin-configurable fields applicable on many forms throughout LOBSTA.

Custom Query

User created search preset used to quickly filter information.

Dependency

Denotes a relationship between tasks. The most common is the parent and child task.

Document

Supplementary instructions or descriptions used for a project.

Enumeration

Admin-configurable categories for Activities, Documents and Issue priorities.

File

User uploaded filed available to download by other users.

Action of limiting display results by a category. Available in...

Gantt Chart

A task-time display of tasks and completition dates.

Geocoder

Process of converting a location name to geographic coordinates.

GeoJSON

JSON format which represents geographical data.

Geolocation

Process of returning a location through geographical data obtained through GPS or Ip addresses.

Geometry

Geometry is pure mathematics that is related with shape, size, distance, etc.

Georepublic

Georepublic's speciality is the development and marketing of IT solutions in the field of geographical information systems, logistics and business intelligence based on open source software projects.

Group

A category for users.

GTT (Geo-Task-Tracker)

Location-based task management and maps that allow you to locate your issues as point, line, or polygon, specify project area, geocoding, etc.

Issue

The main task(s) a project needs to resolve for its completion.

Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)

Security protocol to allow authentication between servers. Once authenticated, allows the user to access information in the network

LOBSTA

LOBSTA is based on the english acronym "Location Based Task Management".

Member

A member is a user or group that has a role in a project.

Module

Project functionality that can have its display checked on/off. If off, modules are still in the project but inaccessible for the user.

News

User generated news for a project.

Permission

A property which defines what a role can or cannot do in LOBSTA Manager.

Plugin

Supplementary software which adds functionalities to LOBSTA.

Public

Classifies if a task or project is public or private. If set to private, only members of the project can view the task or project.

Priority

A classification of urgency or importance for an issue.

Project

A conglomeration of tasks to accomplish a goal.

Redmine

Redmine is a free and open-source, web-based project management and issue tracking tool that allows users to manage multiple projects.

Repository

The setting repository allows you to map users that have commits to the users in Redmine.

Role

Admin configured position with a collection of permissions.

SMASH

The free and open source digital field mapping for iOS and Android

Status

Admin configured category of the progress of an issue.

Subtask

Task derived from a parent task. Relations between child and parent tasks become available.

Task

A required issue, news, document, files, wiki, forums and time logs to be complete.

Text Blocks

Admin configured predefined text to be quickly applied on certain issue statuses.

Theme

The global style of LOBSTA interface, which affects the overall appearance.

Tile Source

The origin of OpenStreetMap geolocation display layers.

Time Tracking

A log that allows the user to track work done for a specific issue. The sum of time tracking is seen in roadmap, in relation to the issues assigned to it.

Tracker

A category to describe different types of issues.

Two-Factor-Authentication (2FA))

A security layer for online access to an account. Requires a valid phone number to work.

User

Any person accessing LOBSTA domain. It is assumed all users reading the documentation have an account, unless specified otherwise.

Version

User created goal or variant of a project. Issues can be assigned and tracked by version status in roadmap.

Watcher

A user assigned to watch an item gets notified of changes done to the item assigned.

Wiki

Project specific documentation.

Workflow

Admin configured logic which limits a user´s ability to modify issues status and to edit selected fields, depending on their role and the tracker of the issue.
